Three Solar Projects Online Thanks to Vermont Company

Green Mountain Power Corp. is getting electricity from three new solar power projects that are now online in Vermont.

The projects include a solar array on the top of Green Mountain Power offices in Montpelier, a solar orchard at Shelburne Farms and an array next to a fossil fuel generating plant in Berlin.

Vermont's second largest electric utility says the new projects brings its solar installations to five and it is exceeding its goal of installing and helping its customers install 10,000 solar panels in 1,000 days.

CEO Mary Powell says GMP now has about 14,000 solar panels in use.

The utility says the solar projects are part of GMP's efforts to help it and its customers reduce Vermont's carbon footprint.
